Your business could play a key role in supporting us in ending the suffering caused by homelessness.

The Wallich works with a number of businesses to provide more and better services for homeless people. Examples of our corporate partners include HSBC, Barclays Bank and Western Power Distribution.

There are many ways in which your business could make a real difference to the lives of homeless people.

Sponsorship
We have a number of events and publications throughout the year that you could support. Sponsor logos will be clearly visible and we can include features in Newsletters and on our website detailing your support for our work.

Raising Awareness & Employee Fundraising
One of the most valuable ways that you can help us is to give us space in your staff newsletter, website or other publications that will help us to raise awareness of the problems facing homeless people and how people can help. You could also encourage your staff to fundraise for us by promising to match their donations.

Direct Support For Projects
You may want to give a donation that will benefit a specific aspect of our work or help homeless people in a specific area. We would be happy to talk to you about The Wallich project that is right for you.

Payroll Giving

Payroll giving is one of the most tax efficient ways of giving to charity and is a simple way for employees to make a regular donation to charity. Employees choose how much they wish to donate and this amount is deducted from their gross pay before tax. They automatically get tax relief on the donation, which means that we will receive the full donation at a lower cost to the donor. Until April 2005 the government will also add an extra 10% to the value of each donation.

For example:

Employees pledge to charity
Value of donation with Governments additional 10%
Actual cost to employee at basic rate of tax (22%)
Actual cost to employee at higher rate of tax (40%)
£5.00
£5.50
£3.90
£3.00
£10.00
£11.00
£7.80
£6.00

What do you need to do to operate Payroll Giving?

Operating a Payroll Giving Scheme is easy for employers. All you need to do is obtain a signed form from your employees stating how much they wish to donate each month, and subtract that donation from the employee's pay before tax (but after National Insurance). You will also need to register with a Payroll Giving Agency, and transfer donations over to them. The Payroll Giving agency will claim the tax relief and pay the full donation directly into the charity's bank account. The Payroll Giving Agency usually charge a small administrative fee, which some employers choose to pay so that the value of their employees donation reaches us whole.

You should register for Payroll Giving with a Payroll Giving Agency that is approved by the Inland Revenue. These include:
