Your Vote Counts!
This summer, The Wallich is in with the chance of receiving £15,000 funding from People’s Postcode Trust – and it’s your vote that can make the difference!
The Wallich is one of 12 charities to be chosen as part of People’s Postcode Trust’s Vote That Counts campaign. In partnership with Wales’ four key media titles – Wales on Sunday, Western Mail, South Wales Echo and the Welsh Daily Post – the Postcode Trust is giving 12 selected charities the chance to receive £15,000 funding.
We are over the moon to be nominated – but we need your support to make sure we get the highest number of votes and secure the funding.
Here’s how you can help make your Vote Count:
1. Simply visit Vote that Counts
2. Enter your name, date of birth, phone number, email address and postcode to register
3. Select The Wallich
4. Ask your colleagues, friends and family to make their Vote Count for The Wallich
The charity that gets the highest number of votes receives a fantastic £15,000; five runner-up charities are all awarded £1,000 each.
£15,000 would make such a difference to The Wallich and would be used to fund RSVP, our Residents’ and Service Users’ Volunteer Programme – Developing opportunities for our clients to volunteer in a multitude of different areas such as Maintenance and Gardening, Media Skills, Peer Support and Administration, whilst gaining confidence and learning new skills.
Voting opens on Sunday 13th May and closes at midnight on Friday 22nd June. Please take just 2 minutes to make your vote count and vote for The Wallich

WREXHAM BIG SLEEP OUT
The Wallich will hold a sponsored sleep out on 25th April in Wrexham to raise funds for and awareness of street homelessness in the area.
10 employees of The Wallich, from St Johns Hostel and Richmond House in Wrexham, and another project in Rhyl, will be involved.
The Wallich’s St John’s Hostel and Richmond House provide a safe, secure, temporary home for 11 homeless men and women, in shared accommodation, along with a dedicated and comprehensive personal development plan for each resident, outlining how they want their life to change and how The Wallich can help them achieve their goals.
The team will sleep outside Boots the chemist in Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre with nothing to protect them from the elements apart from sheets of cardboard and sleeping bags.
There will be a welcome from The Wallich staff members at 8pm, and from 9.30pm to 12am the team will be networking at various local social establishments trying to fundraise for their efforts.
The event is designed to remove participants’ home comforts and give them a greater understanding of the reality of sleeping rough in Wales today. It will be a very humbling experience for those involved who will gain first hand, the cold, frightening and isolating feelings that rough sleepers experience every night on the streets of our towns and cities.
All monies raised will be used for local projects in the area.
