The Wallich relies on your donations and support to continue our vital work with homeless people. There are many ways you can support our work:

Make a donation

Leave a legacy

Corporate support

Community groups

Fundraising

Trusts & foundations

Supporters

After providing for family and loved ones, you may wish to leave a proportion of your estate to charity. Remembering The Wallich in your will is an effective way of remembering your local community and those who still need your help. It can also be a tax effective way of distributing your assets.

Leaving a legacy to The Wallich is simple, whether you are making a will for the first time or amending an existing one.

How your legacy will help
Your legacy will help us to continue our fight to eradicate the suffering caused by homelessness. A legacy that specifies that it should be used for 'its general charitable purposes' allows us to direct your gift to where the need is greatest. However, if you wish to support a particular project, or projects, then this would also be very gratefully received.

There are 2 ways you can leave a legacy to The Wallich:

A Pecuniary Legacy
This means you will be leaving a specific amount of money in your will to The Wallich. This is very simple, but can have the disadvantage that the value of the fixed amount will be eroded by inflation over time.

If you wish to leave this kind of legacy, appropriate wording may be:
I give to The Wallich (registered charity number 1004103) the sum of (amount in figures and words) to be used for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.

A Residuary Legacy
This is when you leave all of, or a proportion of, the remains of your estate after family and loved ones have been provided for.

Suggested wording for this kind of legacy is:
I give all (or a % share of) the residue of my estate to The Wallich (registered charity number 1004103) for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.

If you are amending an existing will you will probably need to make a codicil (the legal term for an additional instruction), which will have to be witnessed by 2 people, and the wording of your legacy will be slightly different.

We strongly recommend that you consult a solicitor before drawing up or amending a will.
