Homeless Charity Rewards The Success Of Its People
13.12.06

This Wednesday (13th Dec) The Wallich, one of Wales’ leading homelessness charities, will be holding an awards ceremony to reward the outstanding progress of some of the people it supports.

The Profile of Achievement Awards will take place at the Civic Offices of Bridgend County Borough Council and will be presented to people at The Wallich who have worked hard and taken steps to improve their lives.

In line with recent Government recommendations that hostels and services for homeless people become places of change, providing positive activities such as learning and training, The Wallich has begun the process of becoming a ‘Learning Organisation’.

The Profile of Achievement is just one of the opportunities for the vulnerable people that The Wallich supports to gain formal recognition and qualification of their skills and progress. The Wallich works closely with City and Guilds and with Crisis to ensure that people have the transferable skills to move on to sustainable, independent living.

Stephen Gamgee, Chief Executive of The Wallich says;

“These awards are recognition of the strength of character shown by people who are rebuilding their lives following personal difficulties. As a ‘Learning Organisation’ we aim to formally recognise the steps taken by our clients to regain stability, develop a new lifestyle and succeed in their personal achievements.”

The award ceremony will take place at 1pm. Members of the media are welcome to attend and a buffet and refreshments will be provided.
