Carmarthenshire Substance Misuse Tenancy Support Service (CSMS) is a floating support service providing support to people in their own homes across the whole of Carmarthenshire. The service aims to help people with a substance misuse issue in gaining and/or sustaining their tenancy. These people are committed to being involved in rehabilitation / treatment care programme, and are living in insecure or unsuitable accommodation. Support is provided during normal office hours, with some flexibility to meet the needs of the service user. The amount of hours of support provided per week is flexible as determined by the needs of the service user.

Referrals come to us from 3 treatment providers, West Wales Substance Misuse Service, Carmarthenshire County Council Social Care and Housing Department Substance Misuse team, and Kaleidoscope (Drug Rehabilitation Requirement element of Probation). The reason for this is that the service is complimentary to treatment requiring full joint-working, and needs to take into account the substances and the effect that they will have upon peoples abilities to sustain their housing and to make the improvements that they wish to make in all areas of their lives.
