The TASS provides a tenancy support service to people who have been placed in temporary homeless accommodation (including Bed & Breakfast) by Wrexham Local Authority’s Homelessness Team.

The service aims to reduce repeat homelessness and offers support for the duration of people’s stay in temporary accommodation. The TASS is accessed by referral from the Council’s Homelessness Unit and the service works closely with the Wrexham Council’s Temporary Accommodation Officer to ensure people’s support needs are met.

The TASS provides help for people to:

* manage their temporary tenancy
* find appropriate move-on accommodation
* understand their tenancy rights and obligations
* sustain their temporary tenancy and maintain their property in an appropriate condition
* move on to more stable accommodation with or without support
* develop coping skills by encouraging them to exercise choice and control in their lives maximise their income and so reduce levels of debt or rent arrears
* liaise with other professionals or access specialist support
* start to develop more stable lifestyles

In addition, the service ensures service users understand their rights and responsibilities as a tenant before moving in.
